The Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana is committed to developing and maintaining a safe, reliable, and connected transportation system that improves access to Tribal services, housing, economic development, and community resources.
The Tribe’s Transportation Department works in partnership with Tribal leadership, community members, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and local governments to identify transportation needs, prioritize projects, and invest Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) funding.
The 2025 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) establishes the Tribe’s long-term vision for transportation over the next twenty years. The Plan identifies existing transportation needs, anticipated growth, and priorities for improving roads, pedestrian facilities, safety, maintenance, and access to Tribal lands and facilities.
The Tribal Council approved amendments to the 2025 LRTP in June 2026 to reflect updated transportation priorities, planned housing development, and proposed additions to the National Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory (NTTFI).
